Milo & Avery | Proposal | Franklin Park Zoo Boston, MA

Milo & Avery’s Wedding Proposal at Franklin Park Zoo in Boston, MA

When Milo first contacted me about the details of his proposal, I was more than excited. He wanted to do them in a zoo, in or near the red panda exhibit, since Red Panda’s are Avery’s favorite animal. The original plan, was a private feeding experience with the red pandas, and Milo would propose then, as I acted like the zoo’s photographer for the fun event. Due to safety reasons, this plan wasn’t allowed, but the zoo did allow us to propose in front of their exhibit, with one of the workers using food to ensure the pandas came out. I was so excited for this unique proposal, that I showed up about an hour early! It’s okay though, as it allowed me to walk around and get ready in plenty of time.

When the proposal moment came Milo and Avery stopped in front of the exhibit, and he got down on one knee. Avery was very surprised, and we even got a red panda visitor! It all worked out perfectly. After Milo proposed, we wandered around the zoo and took some portraits. We lucked out and got to feed some birds, which made for some really fun photos!

Overall, this surprise proposal in Boston at the Franklin Park Zoo was amazing, and I’m more than excited to share some images with you today!

Chris & Erin | Proposal | Fan Pier Park Boston, MA

Chris and Erin’s proposal photo session at Fan Pier Park in Boston, MA.

Chris and Erin’s proposal took place on a chilly day in late March. The wedding proposal happened at Fan Pier Park in Boston, MA. Erin was so shocked and surprised, it may have been the best surprise reaction I have witnessed yet. Erin kept asking if this was real, did this really happen, and then was elated. This couple was so fun and happy, it really made for a wonderful photo session.

Jacob & Lauren | Proposal | Seaport Boston, MA

Jacon and Lauren’s New Year’s Eve Wedding Proposal photography session at Fan Pier Park in Boston, MA.

Jacob proposed to Lauren on a rainy evening on New Year’s Eve and Fan Pier Park in Boston. This was the first rainy proposal I have photographed, and it was worth it! While we did get wet and a bit chilly, it made for a beautiful quiet evening. There weren’t many people out on this rainy night, despite it being NYE, so we really lucked out. Fan Pier Park has quickly become a popular spot for proposal photos, and I can now say I’ve photographed here in every season and type of weather. After Jacob asked Lauren the big question, she said yes, and we walked over to Snowport, where some Christmas lights were displayed, which made for a pretty backdrop for more photos.

I think people have the misconception, that rainy or nighttime photoshoots aren’t great, but I’m here to prove they are. Never let the weather deter you from asking your significant other the big question. It will make for a great memory and a great story to tell your friends and family! One of my favorite images from this proposal is the very first image I took. Jacon and Lauren are walking under their umbrella, Lauren has no clue of what is coming, but I love how the image looks in black and white, it’s a beautiful image to me. The quiet moment of a couple walking to a moment that will forever change their lives.

Enjoy these photos from Jacob and Lauren’s wedding proposal at Fan Pier Park in Boston, MA.

Dan & Jenny Wedding Proposal | Harvard University Cambridge, MA

Dan proposed to Jenny at Harvard University in Boston

Dan contacted me about proposing to his girlfriend of 7 years, Jenny. They met while attending Harvard University, and he thought it was the perfect spot for the location for the proposal. Dan chose the Widener Library, which is the centerpiece of the college. Dan proposed to Jenny right on the steps of Widener Library. It was a frigid day, about 15 degrees Fahrenheit, and it had snowed two days before, but that didn’t stop this couple from having a great time during their session! The snow only added to the beautiful backdrop of Harvard Yard and made this winter wedding proposal that much more special.

Dan asked for the session to occur in the morning to avoid busier times in the city, which ultimately worked in our favor. The campus was quiet, not many people around, and it helped not to have people in the background of the photos and to make this intimate event more special.

After Dan proposed to Jenny on the steps of Widener Library, we walked around the Harvard University campus to take some engagement photos. I love the Harvard campus, the brick buildings, and the layout; it all adds a rustic, very Boston charm to the photos. I’ve taken photos in Harvard Yard in the warmer months, so seeing it in the winter was nice. While I’m not a massive fan of the cold, I love snow for photos and will bravely weather for a photo session!

Below are some of my personal favorite photos from Dan and Jenny’s wedding proposal photo session. As a Boston proposal photographer, I adore capturing this special moment for every couple I meet. Best wishes to Dan and Jenny!

Gennie and Andrew | The Boathouse Waterfront Hotel Kennebunkport, ME

Wedding in Kennebunkport, ME

Gennie and Andrew were married on a beautiful fall day in late October at The Boathouse Waterfront Hotel Kennebunkport, Maine. I had never been to this venue, but I was excited. I loved this quaint little town, and this wedding was just so beautiful! I first met Gennie and Andrew at Gennie’s sister’s wedding. Her sister, Christa, was married in Boston the year before. I was so happy Gennie decided to book me, and see this family again.

The ceremony took place at a local church that was in walking distance from The Boathouse, but Gennie’s dad has a vintage truck and brought it along to give the couple a ride in to and from the church. Let me tell you, this truck was perfect and some of my favorite images are with the truck in front of the church!

Emily & Dan Engagement Photos | Arnold Arboretum Boston, MA

Engagement Session Arnold Arboretum Boston, MA

The Arnold Arboretum is probably my favorite place in Boston, and one of my favorite places of all time. I love going there at any time of the year, and I’ve photographed here in every season, and almost every type of session I offer. I’ve photographed family sessions in the fall with the gorgeous foliage, a winter engagement session in the snow, a spring wedding in the flowers, and a summer proposal in tht golden sunset and green of the trees. It’s such a beautiful peaceful place in the crazy city of Boston.

Emily and Dan’s engagement was in the winter, we had the perfect amount of snow on the ground, and there was ice all over the trees that just added to winter beauty of the scene. These are my favorite winter engagement photos, it was just a perfect day all around!

Alex & Ashley Wedding Proposal | Fan Pier Park Boston, MA

Wedding proposal at Fan Pier Park in Boston, MA

Fan Pier Park may be one of my favorite areas in Boston, and it’s quickly become a popular spot for proposals to occur. It’s typically not that busy, and photos can be taken there at any time of the year. I’ve photographed there in the sun, and dark, rain and snow, cold and warmth, and I love how every time it’s a beautifully, unique experience.

Alex contacted me via email about proposing to his girlfriend Ashley. They live in Texas, but were coming to Boston for a weekend trip. They were coming up in the winter, so I prepped him for the cold, haha. In that first email though, I could almost hear the excitement from Alex, he exuded happiness, and I was excited for him. When the day of the proposal came, not only was Alex just BEAMING with happiness (wait until you see his smile) but Ashley radiated that happiness as well. Ashley was beyond surprise and excited, and I left this session with my cheeks aching from smiling all day. Alex and Ashley are just naturally happy people, but this added bonus of saying yes to their love, just made it that much more special.

Daniel & Jennifer Wedding Proposal | Boston, MA

Wedding proposal on the Charles River in Boston, MA

This proposal took place at the Charles River Esplanade in Boston, MA. I love proposal sessions so much! When Daniel contacted me about photographing his proposal to Jennifer, I was so excited. I hadn’t photographed one at the Esplanade yet, so I was in for a unique experience. It was busy, but thankfully once people caught on as to what was happening, they steered clear for the photos to take place.

Daniel planned a little picnic lunch, and then hid the ring inside a Cracker Jack box - how cute is that?! I love how every proposal I photograph is different and unique to that couple.

Cosgrave Family

I love fall family sessions, especially at some great locations. Borderland in Easton, MA is one of my favorite local place to photograph sessions. It has such a great variety of backdrops from the castle like mansion, to the woodland trails, to the waterfront lake! It’s also one of those parks where you can photograph at any time of the year and still end up with beautiful photos. These family photos were taken around peak fall season, so the foliage was on point! Check them out below

Arjun & Hena Wedding Proposal | Mike’s Maze Sunderland, MA

Wedding proposal photographed at Mike’s Maze in Sunderland, MA

I love photographing wedding proposals, but this one was a unique experience for me! Arjun contacted me about proposing to his girlfriend, Hena at a Corn Maze! Not just a regular corn maze, but the biggest, most fantastic corn maze in the state of Massachusetts. Mike’s Maze in Sunderland, MA creates a new field every year with a super fun theme. It was movie based this year, with the maze looking like Popcorn and all kinds of movie-themed games and trivia inside. When I heard from Arjun about the proposal, and then read about Mike’s Maze, I was beyond excited! Wait until you see these images.

You can find more about Mike’s Maze bu visiting their website HERE.

Arjun and I met up a few days before the proposal date, as he wanted a picnic setup, so there were a lot of props. I got there early, the staff at the corn maze was amazing and so incredibly sweet, and helped me out. Once I was setup, it was a matter of waiting, and deterring customers from coming over to the picnic, haha. Everyone was excited once they heard why I was setup there, and made sure to give space.

Once I knew Arjun and Hena were on their way, I hid behind some corn stalks and waited to capture the moment! It went more perfectly than I could have ever planned!

FUN FACT: The image below, Arjun took Mike’s Maze map and created a fake Apple Cider area. This was his ruse on how to get Hena to the exact spot where the proposal was taking place. I love this clever idea!!

After, we walked around and took some portraits all around the maze! It was a beautiful fall day, and I loved that we got some foliage mixed in with the corn maze photos.

We ended the session with hot apple cider and cider donuts, which was the perfect ending to some fall engagement photos!

Thank you for checking out my blog. Mallory Walsh is a Boston photographer based out of Southern Massachusetts, who loves photographing wedding proposals and families in and around the Boston area.

SAMANTHA & DEAN | WEDDING | OCEANVIEW OF NAHANT

Samantha and Dean were married on a beautiful summer evening in Nahant, Massachusetts. It was my first time at Oceanview of Nahant, and I fell in love with this venue! As a Boston Wedding Photographer, it’s always fun to get to photograph a wedding a little outside the city. Nahant is like a little island and paradise. It’s so beautiful, peaceful and the perfect spot for a wedding!

Wedding Date: July 24, 2020

As a Boston Wedding Photographer, it’s always fun to get to photograph a wedding a little outside the city. Nahant is like a little island and paradise. It’s so beautiful, peaceful and the perfect spot for a wedding!

Samantha and Dean’s original wedding was going to be a bit different, and due to Covid-19, they had to change their plans, including their photographer! They booked me two weeks before their wedding and I was SO glad I was available! Samantha was maid of honor in a wedding I photographed last summer, so it was so wonderful to see her again. I love it when I see familiar faces again, and yes, that bride, her BFF, was in attendance at this wedding!

Summer beach weddings in Boston can be unpredictable with the weather, but we lucked out with the perfect weather! It wasn’t hot at all, and we got the most beautiful sunset. I was so happy to get a mix of colors in the sky for this wedding couple’s portraits. I’m also glad they were able to have a full wedding day from getting ready to the ceremony, to even their first dance. I was so honored to capture all of the moments of their special day!

Even though COVID has ruined a lot of things, it has not ruined love! All of us wedding vendors are still here trying to be there for our couples in any way that we can. Small weddings, rescheduled weddings, we’re here working hard to ensure we’re still around next year and that your wedding takes place as much to your vision as possible. Just take this beautiful wedding for example of proof that love is certainly not canceled. <3

FERRIS FAMILY | FAMILY PHOTOS | DIGHTON, MA

Today on the blog is the Ferris Family! This is a great idea for family pictures outside. I love outdoor family photos so much, especially in late summer when everything is so green and lush. On the warm summer evening when the world quiets down, the sun starts sinking and everything looks golden. Those are my favorite days to photograph.

On the warm summer evening when the world quiets down, the sun starts sinking and everything looks golden. Those are my favorite days to photograph.

I’ve known this family for many years! Mom, Vanessa and I grew up in the same town and attended the same schools, so we especially have known each other for a very, very long time. I won’t admit how long, because then I’d be admitting that we’re getting old and I don’t believe that.

I just adore family photos so much. Being a family photographer allows me to meet so many wonderful families and people! I get to visit new parks and areas I’ve never been to, or like this park, discover a new park in a town you frequent often. This park is two houses away from my sister in law’s house and I have no idea how I missed it before! It’s a little hidden gem, and I would love to photograph here again soon.

I hope you enjoy these family photos!

BROOK AND EVAN | ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS | PLUM ISLAND BOSTON, MA

Brooke and Evan’s engagement session took place on Plum Island in Boston, MA. It was my first time visiting Plum Island! In all of my trips to Boston, I can’t believe I hadn’t been to this little island before. Ah, Massachusetts is vaster then you imagine, and there are so many beautiful areas.

I was so happy we lucked out with beautiful weather, and a perfect sunset for these beach images! Brook and Even wanted a few photos with their dog, so we started with those before he got too rambunctious. He was way too cute and did pretty well for photos. Dogs are kind of like toddlers during a photo shoot - they don’t sit for too long, get distracted by people and birds around them, and just want to run away, ha ha. I do love when couples incorporate their pets in their photos though. Pets are our family, and we should cherish the little time we have with them.

Brooke and Evan are a beautiful couple and were easy to photograph. We had a lot of fun not only taking their engagement photos, but also getting to know each other as well. I can’t wait to photograph their Boston wedding next year! Being a Boston wedding photographer, it’s so fun to explore all of the areas not only in the city, but outside of it as well. Boston, and Massachusetts have so much to offer in terms of photo session locations.

Here are some of my favorite photos that I took during Brook and Evan’s engagement session. I hope you love them as much as I do!

STEPHANIE & CRAIG | FAMILY SESSION | ARNOLD ARBORETUM BOSTON, MA

For anyone who knows me, they know that I love fall and I love nature, especially for photo sessions. Don’t get me wrong, I do love the occasional urban session in the city, or a beach session in the summer, however, my heart lies in the woods. There is something about the trees and leaves that just speak to me. Even for personal days, I prefer going for a walk in the woods over anything else. It’s where I feel the most at peace and the most myself. The smells, the sounds - I love it all.

There is something about the trees and leaves that just speak to me. Even for personal days, I prefer going for a walk in the woods over anything else. It’s where I feel the most at peace and the most myself. The smells, the sounds - I love it all. Fall is my favorite because I obviously love all of the colors, but I love the crispness in the air, and the activity of the animals preparing for winter. It’s a favorite time for me, and one I try and savor each year it comes around.

I’ve fallen in love with the Arnold Arboretum Boston, MA for photo sessions. In the past, I’ve always seemed to visit this place - for personal and for photo sessions - in the Spring and Summer. I’ve driven by a few times in the fall, but I never made it inside. It’s literally been a dream of mine to both photograph at Arnold Arboretum Boston, MA and visit this beautiful place in autumn. I finally had that opportunity come around come this October, and let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint.

I had a couple who have two dogs who wanted family photos of the four them, and requested Arnold Arboretum Boston, MA for October and I was stoked! I arrived to the park about an hour early so I could walk around and find some good spots. I’m so glad I did! And if you follow me on Instagram you know that I video taped me geeking out over the colors. It was PEEK foliage time so the colors were a dream. I thought I was walking through some dream of mine it was so perfect. I’m so glad I got there early and geeked out before the couple arrived, because I was way too excited you guys!!

WAIT until you see these photos and the amazing foliage. It was so much better in person, but i feel I captured the family and the colors so well. And, I mean they brought their beautiful dogs on top of it so this session is hands-down one of my favorites to date. Enjoy these photos!

NIKI & BEN | WEDDING | NEW BEDFORD WHALING MUSEUM | NEW BEDFORD, MA

Downtown New Bedford is a pretty fun place. The streets are lined with cobblestone, the buildings are all very old and reminiscent of colonial times. There are lots of restaurants and shops to visit, and fun activities to enjoy with friends or for a fun date night out. In such a small area of New Bedford, there is a lot going on. All of this looks over the harbor where fishing boats nest, making it picturesque and you almost feel like you’re down The Cape. In the middle of all of this sits The Whaling Museum. It’s a place to visit with family, but it also hosts weddings!

It’s a place to visit with family, but it also hosts weddings!

Niki and Ben were married on a beautiful summer day in August of this year. This wedding that I photographed for the Thompson Photography Group was one of my favorites! This was the second wedding this year that I photographed at the New Bedford Whaling Museum, and I love it! It’s such a fun venue, and one that I have come to love. The room that hosts weddings is located on the top floor, with a balcony that overlooks the waterfront. The room itself is wide open with clean decor. Cocktail hour is typically held in the museum itself where an actual HUGE ship is kept! It’s a sight to see for sure!

Niki and Ben’s wedding was beautiful. The bride and her maids got ready at a carriage house located in New Bedford. The place itself was so cute, and was a perfect spot for some outdoor photos of the bride, bridesmaids and some family. They had their wedding ceremony inside a church in Dartmouth, and everything else was at the museum or around the streets. We had fun with the wedding party and Niki and Ben - we walked around the streets and even walked across to the waterfront to get their formals around the boats. Overall, it was such a beautiful day!

I have so many favorites from this wedding, so please enjoy lots of photos from this day! <3
