This is going to be a personal blog post. I don't write them very often, but I really would love to make more of an effort to do so. I love getting to know my clients, and I know a part of that is you getting to know me as well.
This blog post is extra special to me, because it's about my fiance, Adam, and I. 10 years ago, on December 12, 2006, we started dating. My life completely changed after that beautiful day.
In so many ways I can't believe a whole decade has passed since Adam and I started dating, and in other ways, I really can't remember my life without him. Funny thing is, we've been "meeting" each other since we were about 4 years old. What do I mean by this? Well, at 4 years old Adam was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and I was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, both incurable auto-immune disorders. We were both seen at Children's Hospital in Boston, and both endured long stays at the hospital. We may have met as youngsters then, but don't remember. Another chance meeting: both of our families took a vacation to Disney during February vacation while we were in second grade. Yup, we were in Disney at the same time. And, Adam and I both have never been back to Disney! Lastly, Adam attended my high school freshman year, and then transferred out. We don't remember meeting each other, but a lot of my friends remember him! It seemed like we had almost met our entire lives. Weird, I know.
Fate (or whatever you want to call it), finally brought us together in May of 2006. I walked in to the first day of my new job, and Adam was the first person I saw. We didn't start dating until 7 months later, but there was always something that pulled him and I together. I'm not sure if I believe in fate or love at first site, but I do believe Adam and I were always meant to be together. We work so well together. We have a great relationship. Sure he drives me crazy at times, I know I drive him crazy too, but over the years our love and our feelings for each other have never faulted. The past 10 years have had it's many ups and downs in our lives, but we've always managed to keep our relationship strong. Adam is my rock, and truly my favorite person in this world. I'm so grateful for what we have. I know something like this seems rare these days, and I cherish each day I get to have with Adam.
To celebrate, we had our first professional photos taken by the wonderful and lovely Ria MacKenzie Photography. I am so grateful for these images!
A huge thank you to Sarah of Making You Glow for making my hair and makeup fabulous!!
Happy 10 years to us. I can't wait to see where the next 10 will take us!
These photos were taken at the same place we met, 10 years ago. <3
I'd love to thank my Dad for my huge smile, I definitely take after him for that! Adam clearly contributes to that now. He is always making me laugh until my cheeks hurt.
Okay, this next one below I'm quoting my dear friend Kathy (Brownie), because her comment is hilarious and I loved it:
"YOUR CHUCKLE HERE
DAWSONS F*#$&%G CREEK"
(edited, because this is a family blog lol)
Is it weird that I'm posting photos of myself? Maybe. I actually really love the first photo of me and my camera. I try not to be too hard on myself, and usually ask Adam what his favorite is. Of course he's sweet and says "I love them all", but I nag him until he tells me his top favorite. He clearly loves me, and sees the best in me, so I try and trust his opinion.
PS: the photos of me in the hat, the one on the left? Yea.. that me trying to be serious. I always to manage to smirk somehow, haha.
Adam will probably kill me once he finds out I included a couple photos of him, but I don't care. He's the worst critic when it comes to photos of himself! I love him though, and I adore these photos of him below. He's one handsome guy, and makes me go weak in the knees every day.
I requested the photos below. They're the only ones that were must-haves. Ha, I know they weren't of our faces! I knew Ria would take amazing photos of Adam and I, I had no worry about that. I just have a vision of these two photos below on canvas, with one of us in the middle. I still need to print them out, but I knew I wanted these for that very reason!
