Sousa Family | Family Photo Session | Roger Williams Park | Providence, RI

Today on the blog is a very special family!  In June of 2012, I photographed my very first wedding! (Yikes, can't believe that was 5 years and 100+ weddings ago!).  At this wedding, I met two guests who were family of the groom's.  This couple ended up contacting me after this wedding they attended, about taking family photos as they had a little girl.  Of course, I obliged!  We took their family photos the following Fall, and the rest is history (as they say!)

Fast forward 5 years later and this family has continued to come back to me each year!  I've adored photographing them, and getting to know them over the years.  Their family has grown so much as well.  At the first session, they had just one daughter, and now they have three. I hope Carina, Luke, Selena, Victoria and now Olivia, all know how much I appreciate them!  One of the best feelings for me is making my clients happy.  When they continue to come back to me, I know I'm doing something right!

This most recent session, I got to meet the newest member of the Sousa family.  Last summer, Carina was still pregnant with Olivia (as seen in the beach photos), so I hadn't met her yet! I was excited to add the newest little girl to their photo collection.  For this session, Carina suggested we try a new park and we went with Roger Williams Park in Providence, RI.  This family session was way too fun!  It was so great seeing this family again this year.

Since it's been a whole five years since this family has been coming to me, I wanted to start by posting a collage from all of their sessions over the years.  You can see how not only their family has grown, but my photography as well!  What a difference!

Elyse & Thomas | Wedding | Ballard's of Block Island | New Shoreham, RI

Wedding Date: June 4, 2017

Venue: Ballard's of Block Island

Today on the blog is the wedding of Elyse and Thomas! On June 4, 2017 I  drove all the way to Narragansett, RI and I took a Ferry to Block Island!   {Funny side note: while waiting with my car in line to get onto the ferry, who is next to me but the bride and groom! Ha!  I got to chat with them, and meet some of their family ahead of time.  It was nice!}

Not only was it my first time on Block Island, but it was my first island wedding!  I've photographed many weddings all over New England, including some down Cape Cod, but never on any of our islands.  So when I booked this wedding, I was pretty excited to get to the island!

When I first arrived, I arrived several hours early, so I explored the island a bit.  I took a walk around and came across the beautiful Mohegan Bluffs!   What a gorgeous view!  I could've explored the island all day, but I had to get to work!  Which in my case, work is really, really fun.

Check out some of the gorgeous views on Block Island!

After my exploring around Block Island, it was time to head back to my hotel and get ready for the wedding!

I started with Elyse, the bride, getting ready in her hotel room.  Which, was pretty convenient as her hotel was Ballard's of Block Island - yes same as the venue!   I adored Elyse's gorgeous backless linen dress. It was the most perfect beach wedding dress I've ever seen!

In the morning, the weather was bright and sunny and clear skies! As you can see in the photos above.  However, this is New England and the weather can change at a drop of a hat.  Rain was predicted in the forecast for later in the day, so we all hoped it would hold off until after the ceremony.

After I finished with the getting ready photos of Elyse, I met Tom and we headed out to a spot he and Elyse chose for their first look.  I adore first looks, as it gives the couple a beautiful private moment together of seeing each other for the first time.  A lot of times during a ceremony a bride and groom are too far away from each other or someone blocks their view, so they aren't able to experience a "first look" that wonderfully.  These private moments are just the bride and groom, with me capturing their reactions first-hand.

Since Tom and I got there a few minutes early, I took some photos of the nervous groom alone.  I don't often get to take them of the groom, so I had to gran a couple while we waited for Elyse to arrive!

After the first look, I also took a few formals of the two.  We took more later on the beach, but I loved some of these as well! <3

Elyse and Tom were married right on the beach, outside of Ballard's Inn of Block Island.  The rain did unfortunately start during the ceremony, but it was a light rain!  We all really lucked out this wedding day.  Their ceremony was just gorgeous.  There was lots of smiles, love, laughter and family.  Just perfect.

Look at how adorable the flower girl and ring bearers are!

After the ceremony, we totally lucked out even more as the rain stopped!  We were able to get some pretty formals on the beach of the bride and groom.  And lucky we were, because as we were walking back to the hotel, it started raining! And the rain just grew heavier as the night went on.  Thankfully, the reception was indoors, but I can't believe how much we lucked out, weather wise!

And the reception! Let the party...begin!

Madison and Maebry | Ballerina Beach Session | Westport, MA

Today's session is extra adorable and will bring you some sunshine!  The weather we've been experiencing in New England has been rain for what feels like months!  Never-ending rain! When this mom contacted me about doing beach photos many months ago, we had no idea it'd be raining like this.  We had to reschedule our session once, and crossed our fingers that all would work out.

Thankfully, we had no rain, but it was a little chiller than expected come the day of our session. Who knew it'd be this chilly the end of May?!  We went with it though, and I'm so glad we did! These two ballerina sisters were way too adorable with their matching blue ballerina outfits. They reminded me of Cinderella!

We met at Horseneck Beach in Westport, MA for some beach photos.  We met later in the day for hopes of some pretty sunset photos.  I was sure to get some beautiful sunflare in some of my pictures!  I hope you enjoy this adorable session!

Mommy and Me Photo Session | C Family | Taunton, MA

Today on the blog I will be sharing one of my sessions from my Mommy and Me sessions that took place on May 20th.   These sessions took place at the Gertrude M Boyden Bird Park in Taunton, MA.  I had three beautiful families sign up for them, so I'll be blogging them individually so I can share lots of photos from each session!

First up is the C family! I had so much fun with these two kiddos!  They were a joy to photograph, and just overall fun! They loved the camera, which made my job way too easy!

Here are some of my favorites from this session

Mommy and Me Photo Session | W Family | Taunton, MA

Today on the blog I will be sharing one of my sessions from my Mommy and Me sessions that took place on May 20th.   These sessions took place at the Gertrude M Boyden Bird Park in Taunton, MA.  I had three beautiful families sign up for them, so I'll be blogging them individually so I can share lots of photos from each session!

First up is the W family!  Mom came dressed in a beautiful dress, and her kids clothes matched wonderfully.  I was in love with the color scheme!  It made for perfect Spring photos.  Mom also requested that we use some books in a few of the photos, and of course I obliged!

These three kids were so fun to photograph.  I was able to capture some beautiful moments between mom and her children, but also some individual photos of the kids as well.  These intimate shoots capture the special bond between mommy and child. I love them so much!

Here are some of my favorites from this session.

Harrison | 1st Birthday Cake Smash | Grow With Me

I'm always amazed at how fast a year can fly by.  Whenever a client completes their Grow With Me sessions after a full year, I'm in doubt a year really just went by.  I always feel like I just photographed their newborn session, and then poof, it's a year later and I'm photographing their cake smash session. Time really does seem to just move faster as I get older, and I can only imagine how that feels when you have children.

Do you remember the Harry Potter newborn photos I took?  Well that same handsome boy just turned one years old..... See? I told you a year flew on by way too fast!  Harrison turned one on May 11th.  We had his cake smash session just a couple of days later, and boy was it adorable!

Harrison's mom and I went to high school together, so we've known each other for many years. When Shannon first contacted me about photographing Harrison's newborn photos, I was thrilled to see an old friend again!  Over the past year, I've photographed Harrison many times, and at a lot of milestone moments in his life.  I've been honored to do so, and I'm looking forward to continue photographing this family for many years to come.

Shannon mentioned she wanted a luau/surf theme for Harrison's Cake Smash session.  It was the same theme as his birthday, and also of his nursery! I love it! It's not a theme I've photographed yet, so I'm always thrilled to do something new.  I contacted my cake baker Kristin of The Cupcakerie to bake the cake for me.  I told her the theme, and she exceeded my request, as always! I am always amazed at her talent on cake decorating!  Wait until you see this adorable cake. I made sure to include some adorable decorations, and some even Shannon put in from Harry's party.  It all came together very well!

Here are some of my favorites from Harrison's Cake Smash Session.

First, I'm starting with a collage from all of the milestone sessions Harry had.  I love how each one depicts something along a babies first year of growth.  From sleepy newborn, to not being able to sit up yet, to sitting up on his own, to crawling, and to walking.  That's why I love grow with me and milestone photo sessions SO much.  Babies change a lot in their first year, and they also experience a lot of firsts.  Capturing them for my clients is something I just adore. <3

At Harrison's cake smash session we started with some formal photos outdoors with Harrison and his mom and dad.  I always love to start with some formals, before the mess occurs. Hehe.

And, now onto the Cake Smashing!

Daffodil Mini Photo Sessions | Parson's Reserve | Dartmouth, MA

Every Spring I offer Spring Mini Sessions at a new location.  I've been dying to find a floral field of sometime, and was finally able to find one last year!  So, this year I knew I had to offer Spring Mini Sessions at this prime location.  Where and what is this location you ask?  A daffodil field, full of yellow and white daffodils in Dartmouth, MA.  I fell in love with this field last year, and was so stoked to book my Spring Mini Sessions here this year.

My Spring Mini Sessions actually sold out completely this year, so I had five wonderful families come by.  It has done nothing but rain here in Massachusetts for the past few months, so I was a bit worried what the day would bring, to say the least.  I literally stalked the weather station and radar to see what the day would bring.  At first it said rain, then sun, and then clouds.  I was crossing everything possible to make sure we lucked out.  Daffodils have such a short bloom, that I was worried if I rescheduled, we'd miss the prime beautiful daffodil season.

I arrived to Parson's Reserve in Dartmouth, Ma about half an hour early to scoop out the situation and see how the weather was.  It was indeed cloudy, but there was no rain so I went ahead with the sessions as planned.  My first family arrived early, and the day moved swiftly with the second family and the weather staying dry.  I held out hope all would luck out!

The last two families arrived at the same time, and it started sprinkling.  I was fearful of it turning into a downpour, but we trudged ahead with the photos anyways.  Both families were patient and stayed.  Even though we got a little wet, we had a wonderful time!  All five of my families came away with some beautiful images of their children and family - despite the clouds and rain.  I'm so grateful I have such amazing photography clients who are wonderful with going with the flow.  In New England, you can just never predict what the weather will be like, and sometimes rain and be incredibly fun for photos!

Here are some of my favorites from my Spring Mini Photo session at Parson's Reserve in Dartmouth, MA.

First up is this adorable family!  I've been photographing them since mom was pregnant with their little girl - almost 3 years ago!

Next up is this mom and daughter, who are brand new clients!  I loved that mom made sure her and her daughter matched! How adorbale are their outfits?!

Next, is this adorable little boy, who is also a brand new client!  It was his first time having photos done, and boy did he love it!  He was laughing and smiling and just the happiest little boy I've ever met!  Such a joy to photograph!

And lastly, another regular client of mine and mom and son! These two really waited it out in the rain for me, and I adore them for it! <3

Lauren's 30th Birthday Photos | Adult Cake Smash | Westport Photographer

What’s a girl to do when she turns 30? Have a smash cake session, of course!

Lauren contacted me about doing some photos for her 30th birthday.  Think, adult cake smash session. There is wine, cupcakes, balloons, confetti and loads of fun!  Lauren wanted a fun and unique way to celebrate her 30th birthday, because her personality doesn’t allow for dull and typical! She celebrated her youth with this gorgeous shoot and had a blast!

I was stoked when Lauren started sending me ideas for her birthday photo session, and we started planing some fun ideas. Just you wait until you see these photos!

Lauren lives in New York.  She drove all the way from New York to Fall River, MA for me to photograph her!  It was definitely a huge honor that she did this for me.  I photograph lots of cake smash sessions, but all for kids, never adults. So when Lauren first mentioned she wanted an adult cake smash session for her 30th birthday, I was so excited!  During the session, there were so many laughs - we seriously had a wonderful time. After Lauren's adult cake smash session, it makes me want to photograph more!  Definitely contact me if you're interested. Planning out a session like this is incredibly fun!

Originally, for Lauren's photo session, I was going to do a mix of indoor and outdoor photos. However,  here in New England it has decided to just want to rain every day, so we were forced to stay indoors.  No matter!  We still had a blast!  Lauren brought balloons, wine and confetti.  I made cupcakes and supplied a pretty backdrop.  We even shared a glass of wine and a cupcake each after the session.

The confetti was so fun at the end, and I think those are my favorite photos.  The blast from the confetti bottle popping jolted us both a bit, haha so it took everything in my power not to shake while I laughed so I could get some clear shots of the confetti falling around Lauren.  I think they came out pretty great!

Here are some of my personal favorites from Lauren's adult cake smash session!

Seriously, how fun were these photos?!  Happiest of birthdays to you, Lauren!

xoxo Mallory

Mia | Newborn Photo Session | Westport Newborn Photographer

I'm behind on blogging, as per usual! Haha!  I get so caught up in sessions and editing, that I forget to blog.  It's one thing I keep telling myself I want to be better at, yet here I am blogging a session from a month and a half ago.  Although, that isn't terrible for me! Usually I'm many months behind, so I should be able to catch up quickly.  *crosses fingers and toes* (yup, crossing my toes. Thank you, yoga! ;) )

Anywho, let's get on with the important part of this blog post!  Mia!  Today I'm blogging adorable little Mia's newborn photography session.  Mia's older brother, Zachary, and family are regular clients of mine.  I first met this family when Zachary was just 3 months old.  Zachary is now 2! I was so excited when mom, Kristen, contacted me and told me she was pregnant with baby #2!  I love when clients come back to when their family continues to grow. I adore newborn photo sessions so much.  It makes my hear so happy.

Mia was such a little peanut!  She slept pretty well, and I was able to get some adorable photos of her.  She made my job of newborn photographer that much easier! Grandma and mom had a couple of props they asked me to use, and I obliged.  I love when clients have something of their own for me to use.  I think it makes the photos more unique and more them. <3

I even managed to get some photos of Mia and brother Zachary together!  You never know how toddlers are going to be, but Zachary was sooo great! I think he's going to make for one awesome big brother.  He really seemed to love his little sister already.  It totally melted my heart.

Here are some of my favorites from Mia's newborn photography session! I hope you enjoy these. Please feel free to comment below. I love comments! <3

Sage Moon | Newborn Session | Newborn Photographer

Today on the blog, is a very special newborn girl!

First, a little history.  Sage's mom, Laura, and I are best friends.  We first met about 8 years ago. Laura was the manager at my tattoo shop, Positive Space Tattoo, and went to high school with my fiance, Adam.  When I walked into the shop for my appointment, Adam and Laura started catching up while I started on my tattoo.  After Laura and Adam were chatting, I found out that Laura and I had a lot in common, but one big thing: we shared the same birthday.

HOWEVER, not only did we share the same birthday....we're the same age.  We were born at the same hospital, only 20 minutes apart.  How weird is that?  We've since grown a strong friendship and say we're twins and soul sisters, because it just appears we were always meant to be friends! Laura has become a very special person in my life, and I'm so grateful for her friendship!

I remember the day that I woke up to a text message from Laura, it was a photo of a pregnancy test that was positive! Her and her fiance John had started trying, and their dreams of becoming parents came true.  I was ecstatic for both of them, and of course, I immediately started thinking of the newborn photos, especially once we found out the gender was a girl!

Sage Moon was born on April 3, 2017 at 6:07PM weighing in at 9.2lbs!  She's super healthy and beautiful!  I'm so proud of Laura and John, who quickly have become amazing parents.  Laura is a rockstar for having an entire plant-based vegan pregnancy too. Sage is amazing, healthy, and wonderful and Auntie Mallory is already so in love!!

I will be taking thousands of photos of Sage as she grows, I mean, how could I not?!  I had a blast coming up with some fun ideas for Sage's newborn photos... including a beautiful floral arrangement and music themed one!

Here are some of my favorites from Sage's session!

Vanessa and Matt | Couple's Session | Arnold Arboretum Boston

Ah, Boston.  I love it so much in so many ways.  I live about an hour or so south of Boston, so I don't get up here as often as I'd like.  I've photographed many sessions in Boston, including at the Boston Public Garden.  However, I've never been able to shoot a session at the Arboretum before. I've always wanted to, as this location is just perfect.  Especially in the Spring, when everything is in bloom.  There are flowers everywhere - it's smells so wonderful walking through here! I wish Smell-O-Vision existed, because I would've had recorded the smells for you all!

This winter in New England has been such a drag!  March is almost over, and it doesn't feel or look like Spring yet.  It's cold and dreary, and it has me thinking of spring!  Last year I photographed this session, and am dreaming about when I can go back to the Arnold Arboretum again! I'd love to photograph another engagement session or even a wedding!

I had been looking for an opportunity for a session at the Arnold Arboretum, when I thought of a giveaway.  I really wanted a couple, one that would be fun to work with.  I could have a session at a location I love, and get to have fun with poses!  So, I posted a giveaway for a session and had a great number of entries.  For choosing a winner, I used an automated random selector online, so the winner would be totally random.  The winning couple was Vanessa and Matt! A couple I've worked with before, and enjoy so much.  I was more than thrilled!

We planned the day, and as everything came together, I got even more excited.  Our original date we had to reschedule, because silly me booked it for Marathon Monday.  For those who don't know, it's day of the Boston Marathon! The city would be insanely busy this day, so we decided to push it back a week or two.  I'm glad we did, because not only did we luck out with a warm, beautiful day, the flowers were in full bloom!  Perfect.

For this session, I also brought along my friend/assistant for the day, Ashley.  She took some fun behind the scenes photos for me - which I included a few in the blog for you to see! I had so much fun at this session, there are many photos for you to view.  I hope I come back here again, because it's definitely a favorite spot of mine now!

Here are some pretty photos for you to view! Please leave comments and/or share the session! :)
